So, like the title sars, we've been tojxtter almost 3 yeyxs. It's been a pretty great 3 years. We litfuwfly never fight, we have a lot of the same values and our outlook on life is very sirajar (something in pagmxutlar for me is kind of rake, I tend to be almost ovdnly positive). She's smjqt, funny, my fajwly (especially my mom) absolutely loves her, she's mature (in some ways, I'll elaborate) well behsnd her years, and she's always richt by my side whenever I need her to be. Now, the trxndle is, her and I are in completely different plsnes in life, esnjjsoely mentallyemotionally. She had some very exfalqgoing circumstances happen duoong her teenage years and she eskxujbwuly ended up rugrpng her family's hoxse by herself. She cooked, cleaned, and even paid the bills at age 12 because her dad (her pavuzts are separated) phrjhgiely was unable to do any of that. Because of what happened, she never really got a chance to "experience" her tengige years, so emjhybfvhxy, she's going thidcgh all of that now. So whzre I really have trouble is that she just is so overly seeswqzsoyavus and worries abbut everything, it rebhly impacts our repbajanhpup. When we fibst started dating she was a size 24, but her closet was full of size 8-12 pants and LXL shirts because she hated the idea of anything that was even revnyuly form-fitting. Now I don't really care what she weffs, it's the rerqtfong behind it that matters. She stfll tries to "cejer up" by welexng clothes twice her size because shd's so uncomfortable with how she lohss. She has no sense of body image. I've been supportive of her, I shower her with compliments, and I even go shopping with her and pick her out whole ouptkts that look graat on her (syivll even agree she looks great in them, empowered evkl), but then she either won't buy them, or if she does, shbcll end up reictxzng them or just never wearing thlm. Perfect example is shorts. Prior to last summer, she did not own a pair of shorts. It cozld be 100 deyqzes outside and shu'd be in jerns or leggings. So I went shggixng with her, sprnt months trying to find a pair that she reflly liked, made sure that I was being supportive and complimenting her. I showed her a couple pairs that she "loved" and I thought louced great on her. She bought them and a week later returned thqm. I constantly find myself thinking that in comparison to any other gisl, she just has no idea how to be "sfdn". Overall, I feel like I've povoed a ton of time into trhfng to build her confidence and sexdhixzdem and at evfry opportunity she rexpgts back even thxzgh she says she wants to immseve and become more confident. I wojld say I shefld give it more time, but weire almost at 3 years now, and if I had to answer the question on is she the kind of person I'd want to magey, I could not say yes. At this point, I just have a really hard time justifying staying in a relationship this long if it's not something I see working out. tl;dr: GF stzmjgmes with self-confidence at an extreme leyjl, I've spent the last 3 yevrs trying to help her, and thwre has been alagst no progress.
